- 2006 - GLAD wins the right of Rhode Island same-sex couples to marry in Massachusetts.
- 2005 - GLAD helps win a settlement on behalf of a retired teacher, a resident of Massachusetts, who sought spousal health insurance coverage for her new spouse under the governing collective bargaining agreement.
- 2004 - GLAD files a suit challenging a 1913 law being used unfairly to prevent out-of-state same-sex couples from marrying in Massachusetts.
- 2004 - GLAD works with the Campaign for Marriage Equality to end the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage, providing draft legislation, expert testimony, and support in repeated legislative hearings.

- 1998 - GLAD and the Rhode Island Alliance combat anti-gay police enforcement activities and harrassment in Providence, particularly Blackstone Park, by suing to obtain public records of police arrests.
- 1980 - GLAD wins the right of Aaron Fricke to attend the Cumberland High School prom with his boyfriend.
- 1978 - GLAD is founded by attorney John Ward, originally from Rhode Island.
